Panthers and pumas

Panthers are either jaguars or leopards. Pumas/cougars/mountain lions are also known as Florida panthers

                                 Jaguars

6% of Jaguars in Latin america are "black panthers".

The name jaguar is from the Latin american word yaguar meaning "he who kills with one leap".

Jaguars kill their prey by crushing the skull. This is the only cat that uses that technique.

They have soft pads on their feet so they can move silently.

                                 Leopard

Leopards live in Asia and Africa

There are 11 subspeices. The biggest is the Persian and the smallest is the Arabian.

Leopards are renowned for their agility. They run up to 58km/h and can leap 6m horizontally and 3m vertically. They are also very strong swimmers.
